Do you know what is a Dream?

Having a dream is the succession of images, ideas and feelings. Each one of us is believed to go through about two hours each night. However, some dreamers perceive their dreams to be longer than this.

Theories of the function of dreams

Over the last two centuries, several dream theories have been formulated. These theories have their roots in the belief that dreams are the manifestations associated with the brain. a psychological process that occurs during the REM stage of sleep.

The unconscious brain is busy processing memory. It results in a stream from memory stores that is able to flow through the conscious part of our brain. This theory is often referred as the theory of continuous activation.

Another one, called the stimulant response theory recognises the existence of dreams as a form of wish-fulfillment. This is due to the fact that dreams symbolize desire that is not fulfilled in real life.

The theory of threat simulation proposes that dreams serve an evolutionary purpose. During the REM stage of sleep, the amygdala, which forms a portion of the section known as the fight or flight part of the brain, triggers similar as it does during a situation of survival. This would have brought an evolutionary advantage in preparing the human body to face potentially harmful situations.

The REM stage

REM, also known as rapid-eye movement, is the name of the game for those who sleep. At night your brain makes the maximum use of its resources returning to the traits it's not yet learned in the daytime. One example is the sexual sexifier. At this time, the Octavet is at its greatest and it is the ideal time for being around your significant other.

The REM enclosure is also home to many of most prominent brainwaves that occur throughout our time, not just the more obscure ones. The most well-known REM-bound residents include depressed types and insomniacs. Interestingly, a recent study suggests that depression-related people are more likely to go to bed earlier and for longer durations of time. This is due to a variety of factors, the most obvious being they are an adolescent child.

Nightmares

To experience nightmares can be terrifying experience. They're typically accompanied by other unpleasant emotions. They can take place infrequently or frequently. They may also be triggered by trauma or anxiety. In certain instances they could also be caused by medical conditions.

The first step in resolving your nightmares is to understand how they function. The topic of a dream will be influenced through a variety of things, such as the mood of the person dreaming, the subject of a prior dream, latest news and other events within the dreams of the dreamer.

In some instances one can modify the content of a dream, as well as the results. This can happen in a variety ways however the most commonly used method is to practice a new version of the nightmare before going to bed.

Latent content

What is the underlying and hidden meanings in dreams is the subject of debate. Freud argued that the two are connected. He also said that dreams are an Iceberg. There's one part of the iceberg which can be seen above water, and the part that is hidden below the surface.

Freud believed that there were three parts to the mind. The mind that is conscious is at the high point while the subconscious and latent mind are the lowest. They believed the most effective way to access the unconscious was through dreams.

There are two types or dream contents: latent and manifest. The latter is the actual dream content and the significance of it. Sometimes, it's just the result of memory fragments along with a sequence of symbolic events. In the theory of physics there's a way to translate your manifest contents into latent.

Freud's Axiom

Sigmund Freud's belief about dreaming is that dreams are wish-fulfilling. This means that all people are neurotic. Furthermore, Freud stated that dreams are not realand it is a means of obtaining a substitute for reality.

The dream's content is split into two parts: the manifest and latent. The manifest aspect is the actual content of the dream, while the latent part is the hallucinatory aspect from the dream. The content that is manifest arises as a result of processing information. The latent contents are hidden desires and various other forms of hallucination.

There are four methods that keep the dream from being revealed. These are displacement, decryption, transference, and disguise. The first one is displacement. It occurs when a person who is dreaming uses elements of her dreams with elements in the dream-thoughts. It's all dependent on the weakness of the brain that sleeps.
