What's a Dream?

Having a dream is the succession of images, ideas and emotions. Every one of us is expected for two hours of sleep each at night. However, there are some who believe their dreams to be more than this.

Theories of the functions of dreams

Over the last two centuries, several theories about dreams have been proposed. These theories are based on the idea that dreams are manifestations that occur in the brain a psychological process that occurs during the REM stage of sleep.

In this time, the unconscious brain is busy processing memory. The result is a stream of memories that flows through the conscious portion within the brain. This is sometimes referred to as the theory of continual activation.

Another theory, called the stimulus response theory, recognises the possibility that dreams are a kind of wish-fulfillment. This is because dreams represent desires that do not come to fruition in real life.

The threat simulation theory proposes that dreams serve an evolutionary motive. In the REM phase of sleep, the amygdala, a part of the fight-or-flight section of the brain, responds similarly for a survival situation. This would have been an evolutionary advantage in preparing the human body for threats scenarios.

Stage REM

Rapid eye movement, is the word of the day when it comes to sleep. In this state of twilight that the brain makes the most use of its resources making it easier to learn new things that it's not taught in its normal daytime. For instance, the male sexifier. At this time, Octavet is at its greatest in the morning, which is the best time to be around your significant other.

The REM region is also home to many of the top brainwaves in the day, as well as the more mysterious ones. The most prominent occupants of the REM enclave include insomniacs and depressed types. Incredibly, a study from the past indicates that people with depression tend to rest more often and for longer lengths of time. This is due in part to a multitude of reasons, with the most obvious being that they're an adolescent.

Nightmares

A nightmarish experience can be a terrifying experience. They're usually associated with other unpleasant emotions. They can be experienced infrequently or often. They can also be triggered through anxiety or trauma. In some cases they could even be due to medical conditions.

The first step in controlling your nightmares is to know the way they function. The subject of dreams is influenced by a variety of things, such as the mood of the individual who is dreaming as well as the topic of a prior dream, stories, and the other events in the dreamer's life.

In some instances it is possible to influence the content of the dream, including its outcome. This can be accomplished using a variety however, the most common technique is to rehearse a rewritten version of the dream prior to going to bed.

Latent content

It is not clear if there are visible and intangible content in dreams is the subject of debate. Freud claimed that both are interrelated. Freud also believed that dreams were an iceberg. There's part of the Iceberg that may be observed above the water and the rest is hidden below the surface.

Freud believed that there are three distinct parts to the mind. Minds that are conscious constitute at the high point, while the unconscious and latent minds are at the lowest. They believed the best method of observing the unconscious was through dreams.

There are two kinds to dream material: latent and manifest. This latter type includes the actual content of dreams and the meaning of it. Sometimes, it's just made up of memory fragments as well as a series of symbolic events. In the theory of physics, it is possible to transform what is manifest into latent.

Freud's Axiom

Sigmund Freud's idea of dreaming is that dreams represent wish-fulfillment. This implies that all people are neurotic. Furthermore, Freud stated that dreams cannot be real, but it is a means of obtaining a substitute for reality.

The content of a dream can be divided into two parts which are the manifest and latent. The manifest component is real content, while it is the latent aspect to the vision. The content that is manifest comes from information processing. The latent content are hidden desires as well as other types of hallucination.

There are four methods that conceal the latent dream. These are displacement, decryption transfers, decryption, and disguise. The first one is displacement. The process occurs when the dreamer alters elements of his its dream with elements of the thoughts in their dreams. It's a result of the weakness of the sleep brain.
